You have heard the saying “work on your business, not just in it”. What does this mean to you? We ask this of our Hammer of the Week, Chuck Hughes, as well as you. Please comment with your answers on the blog.

It means working on the systems of your company to make it be more efficient. This will make it make more money which means you can hire more people. Eventually this gives you less stress, because it is not just you doing all the work anymore.

Bio – personal:I have been in construction for 38 years, of which 19 have been in my own home remodeling company.

My company and I have helped homeowners with small projects all the way to whole house remodels. We have been in their homes for 1 day all the way up to 2 years. Typically, our customer wants a master plan which we then break into smaller, more affordable projects done over the course of several years.

Two years ago we began working with other homeowners, showing them how to do the work themselves.

Today, as your home remodeling coach, I will show you how to do it all yourself, my team will do the parts you can’t of don’t want to do, or we can do it all for you.

Charity that you contribute time or money to:
I have not contributed to a formal organization, however I am always there when a friend or family member needs me. I would like to donate time to Habitat for Humanity.

Sum up your governing life philosophy in one sentence:
Do what you say you are going to do and do it until you get it right.

chuckthinkingWhat makes you unique:

Someone who appreciates quality… craftsmanship and delivery… and is willing to pay a reasonable price for it.
